Identity theft and child identity theft takes many forms and can rear it’s ugly head in many ways. There is no true way to know when or where to expect it, nor is there any clear way to know what form it will take when it rises to say hello to your child. While there are some safeguards in place to help deal with these identity theft issues before they come about, most employees that deal with credit applications and other important functions, are not trained correctly in the art of spotting fake identification cards or determining that an applicant is not giving true information. With employees that are not trained correctly in finding the true information on a person, it is very easy for these thieves to gain financial, medical, or criminal means with your child’s information.

But what exactly do these different forms of child identity theft entail? Here is an overview of several different forms of child identity theft that you should be aware of:

Financial
Financial child identity theft is one of the more common forms of this crime. It is just what is sounds like, anything dealing with the financial aspects of your child’s information that can be gained from their social security number and personal information. The first step of a financial child identity theft is when a thief uses your child’s social security number to open a line of credit either through a credit card company, automotive loan firm, or other commonly used creditors.

What people do not realize is that most companies that issue credit to a person does not have any way to truly know the age of the person who’s social security number is used. A child identity thief will already have a driver’s license, fake social security card, or other forms of identification that will show your child’s social security number as their own. The company issuing the credit uses that form of identification that is presented to determine that the social security number does belong to them. This is especially true for those companies that take credit applications over the phone or internet, as the applicant does not need to provide any type of identification to fill out, and usually get, the credit.

But, what about the credit reporting bureaus, you say.

This is a major misconception in the eyes of most consumers. It is widely believed that a credit reporting bureau, such as Equifax or Transunion, will automatically know how old the person is who is applying for credit and say “No, that person is only a child.” The truth of the matter is that the credit reporting agencies have no idea how old a person is until they have viable proof of the person’s age, such as a birth certificate. Therefore, when a person applies for credit, the agency will take the age on the application as the correct age, until there is a complaint or dispute filed with them and other law enforcement agencies.

Medical
Did you know that your child can now rack up major medical bills that total in the hundreds of thousands of dollars before they ever have their first hospital visit? It’s true.

The medical form of child identity theft can have your 5-year old owing a quarter of a million dollars for a bi-pass surgery or your 6-year old son for giving birth. This form of child identity theft is becoming more and more common and can wreck your child’s credit and ability to gain health insurance or medical treatments.

Illegal immigrants use bought social security numbers to receive medical treatment for everything you can possibly think of, and then walk away from the bill. This not only wrecks your child’s information for years to come, it also places a major tax burden on the people in your state and community.

Criminal
Criminal child identity theft is a large category that encompasses several different forms. There are some forms of criminal child identity theft that are obvious, and some that you may not have even thought of.

Forms of Criminal – Those you know
Some of the main forms of criminal child identity theft that everyone has heard of is the fake id. Now, normally, when you hear “fake id” you think about a kid trying to get into a bar. But, in the child identity theft world, it is the opposite way around. When a criminal uses a child’s social security number to gain a driver’s license, it is usually due to the fact that they have one of the following problems:
1.They have already lost their driver’s license due to drunk driving or another criminal action.
2.They need an alias to perform criminal actions.
3.They are an illegal immigrant or other form of illegal.
4.They have active warrants out for their arrest.
5.And many other, more detailed problems.

While this might not sound so serious, it can be a terrible problem. If this person commits a criminal act and uses your child’s information, you might find your child with active warrants for a crime that they could not have possibly committed, such as a 10-year old child with a DUI conviction, or a 3-year old child with a bogus check charge. These problems can compound and give your child a criminal record before they ever reach the age to cause any problems.

Forms of Criminal – Those you don’t know
A main form of criminal child identity theft that you might not be aware of is the act of identity cloning. This is where a thief steals information about a child or a deceased person and gain all the proper information in that person’s name. They will sift through different identities until they find one that is approximately the same age as the thief and then clone that identity for themselves. One of the main problems with this is a thief taking the information of a deceased child and then cloning the information to their person and using that identity.

Child identity cloning is very easy to accomplish. All one needs to do is to go through the local newspapers or online death records to find a person’s name and date of birth. Once they have this information, they can then file for a copy of that person’s birth certificate. With a birth certificate, they can then obtain a new social security card and driver’s license that are all legitimate.

Sold on the market
Once a thief gains your child’s information, it is very easy for them to place that information for sale to illegal immigrants or terrorists. On the black market here in the United States, these stolen identities are cloned or in some other form altered so that authorities are not immediately tipped off when a person is stopped or asked for their identification. Terrorists purchase these identities before they ever enter our country and use the information that they get to gain credit, a place to live, a job, and other things they will need to carry out their plans here in the U.S. Illegal immigrants purchase this information shortly after arriving here in the United States, sometimes before, and then use this information as their own until they are either caught or damage the information to the point that they cannot use it any longer. When this happens, all they have to do is to purchase a new identity and they get to start all over again.

An addictive puzzle-action maze game with more than 4,000 unique levels, de Blob: Revolution provides players with hours of pick-up and play, brain teasing fun and brings back to center stage the colorful, paint-splattering character, de Blob.

About de Blob: Revolution

In de Blob: Revolution, the citizens of Prisma City are trapped as Graydians by the evil I.N.K.T. Corporation. As de Blob, players must draw or tap the screen in order to help free these Graydians by finding the best possible route within the maze of each building. There are three types of buildings in the game that players can choose from, including the Rescue Building, where players try to free as many Graydians as possible with no time limit and no threat from the I.N.K.T. Corporation; the Speed Rescue Building, where players aim to free the Graydians and receive a bonus for rescuing them quickly; and the I.N.K.T. Chase Building, where players have a limited time to attempt to free the Graydians before the I.N.K.T. agents enter the property and seize de Blob. Players can unlock new game features as well by increasing their ranking in three ways: A green ranking is awarded for freeing most of the Graydians in a particular maze; a blue ranking is given for rapidly freeing the Graydians; and, an orange ranking is awarded for freeing the Graydians in the buildings with the more challenging mazes.

Not only can someone ruin your credit, your savings, your information, and your life, but they can do it without ever knowing you personally. All they need is a small bit of information about you and they can easily steal your identity. The truly scary part of identity theft is that you won’t even know it’s happened until it’s too late.

Due to the rise in the identity theft rates, everyone has heard about identity theft now. It’s all over the news, the papers, the Internet. Tips and hints to help you protect yourself, programs that you can install to help protect your personal information from hackers, and even home office machines to help you shred those documents with personal information on them. You think you have it covered, you’re not at risk. After all, you do everything you can to keep your identity protected, right?

But, what about your child’s identity?

When you are taking all of these steps to protect yourself and your information, do you do the same things to protect your child’s information and identity? Probably not. Most parents don’t think that anyone will get their child’s information because their child doesn’t apply for anything over the Internet or their child’s information isn’t readily available on your personal computer like theirs is. Right?!

Wrong.

How about that medical information that you filled out online that included your child’s social security number and birth date? How about those old medical bills that had your child’s information on them that you threw away last week? How about birth records, death certificates, and school records that can all be publicly viewed online or simply by filling out a form at the local court house? Each one of these innocent things can lead to someone stealing your child’s identity.

Child identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the nation when it comes to identity theft. The reason: most parents, or the child, won’t catch the thieves for years, sometimes decades. Child identity theft is the act of one person stealing a minor’s personal information, such as a social security number or birth date, and using this information for the thief’s personal gain. These people generally use children’s social security numbers to gain credit, sell to illegal immigrants, or to keep themselves out of jail or other problems by pretending to be that child.

Although child identity theft can begin at any time in a child’s life, the most common found time for someone to steal a child’s identity is right after they are born. With the demand for a social security number for health insurance, tax forms, and many other documents needed for important events in our lives, new parents now fill out the social security form while they are still in the hospital with their day-old child. This information can very easily fall into the wrong hands, from the form at the hospital, the social security information in the social security office, and even the new card in your own mailbox. It is becoming easier and easier for a thief to gain your new child’s social security number and information.

Thieves can gain your child’s information in the most innocent of places – online through phishing scams, by dumpster diving (going through your garbage), public records (such as court records, birth certificates, death certificates), and by just asking you for it in a phone scam operation. Once a thief has even a small part of your child’s personal information, they can easily gain anything else that they might need in order to open a line of credit, run up large utility bills, gain employment for illegal immigrants, and many other things that can ruin your child’s credit for life.

On top of the damage that can be done to a child’s future credit, personal information, and basic lifestyle information, this information is also sold all over the nation and other parts of the world to illegal immigrants and terrorists who aim to do serious damage to our country and our people.

And, the scariest thing is, you won’t even know until it’s already too late to stop.

Identity theft is a growing crime all over the world and there have been many studies and statistics done over this stealthy crime. But, child identity theft is just becoming a major problem in the identity theft arena and we are just beginning to study the cases and statistics around the nation. While there are many different studies that are being conducted, and those already completed, it is hard to get a true grasp on the actual numbers of child identity theft as most of these cases are not known until the child is of age to use their credit.

But, due to the amazing rise in child identity theft cases all around the country, studies conducted by the FBI now claim that almost 10 million Americans reported being the victims of identity theft throughout 2006, and almost one-third of these documented cases were children. There are many other studies out there that are trying to help document and list these cases of child identity theft, but truthfully, most people are not aware of this crime for many years.

About Metro 2033

Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

In 2013, the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.

The 3rd annual MEGABOWL 2010 Multiplayer Educational Video Game (MEG) Tournament, event will be hosted by educational video gaming company Tabula Digita with partners Dell and Intel. The tournament will be held on Friday, March 12 from 10 a.m. – noon at Columbia University’s Alfred Lerner Hall. This event marks the third citywide MEG tournament, the first was held in December 2007. To qualify for the gaming tournament, students were required to compete and post the top scores against thousands of other NYC students who play DimensionM throughout the month of February.

During the two-hour, energy-packed contest, students will go head-to-head using their math skills to advance through timed video games. To move ahead, and ultimately win the tournament, students will have to navigate through numerous mathematical obstacles, and compete with their fellow students, to score points.

“By engaging in the tournament, NYC schools join the ranks of other progressive, academically-driven districts which are embracing the rapidly growing trend of combining traditional math competitions with advanced video game technology. It’s the new equation in the instruction of math,” said Ntiedo Etuk, chief executive officer of Tabula Digita.

“Icecrown Citadel is the pinnacle of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, and was released in Patch 3.3.0 on December 8, 2009.

Layout

4 floors and 12 boss encounters

Chill of the Throne is zone-wide and allows all creatures to ignore 20% of a player’s dodge rating, much like Sunwell Radiance.[1]

Waypoints and teleporters are being reused here because the instance is really big. The instance is built around the spire where the Frozen Throne sits

On the second floor, players will have to board an airship with their faction leader and race against the other faction to reach the third floor. Players will eventually board their ship with rocket packs and use cannons to fight them

The third floor seems to be the biggest one and will feature 3 wings

The fourth floor is where players will fight the Lich King.

Difficulty

Icecrown Citadel will be home of the updated instance difficulty setting which can be changed on a boss per boss basis. It will be able to be switched at any time during a raid without leaving and reentering the instance.

Some restrictions on when you cannot change it will be in place. Such as, you cannot change the difficulty in combat or during certain scripted events. To enable it you will have first have to have defeated the Lich King on normal mode, and heroic mode will not affect trash in anyway and will only change the bosses.[2]

Access progression

Icecrown Citadel will be split into four sections for release, in the following order: The Lower Spire (the first four bosses), the Plagueworks (the next three), the Crimson Hall (the next two), and Frostwing Halls (the last three). There will be a period of some weeks after the opening of the first section before going on into the second. The Lich King may not be fought until Professor Putricide, Blood-Queen Lana’thel and Sindragosa are dead. Any heroic modes may not be attempted until the Lich King has been defeated on normal mode, and you cannot face the Lich King on heroic mode during that week’s lockout unless you defeat Putricide, Lana’thel and Sindragosa on heroic mode.

In addition, there will be limited attempts on the four most difficult encounters – Putricide, Lana’thel, Sindragosa, and the Lich King – similar to the Argent Crusade Tribute Chest for Trial of the Grand Crusader (with the difference of there being no reward for completing the instance before the attempts run out). This symbolizes the support (in the form of troops and material) provided by the Ashen Verdict. The number of available attempts will increase in increments as the raid sections open; when the second section (with Putricide) opens, players will have five attempts; the third (Lana’thel) will boost that to ten, and the final (Sindragosa/Lich King) will boost it to a total of fifteen. The number will increase further in the weeks after all twelve encounters are open, indicating the growing strength of the Ashen Verdict. Once all of the attempts run out, these four bosses will despawn for the week.[3]

The number of attempts is now only limited in heroic, as Daelo stated in the forums.[4]

The second wing of the Citadel, the Plagueworks, was opened on US servers on January 5, 2010. The third wing, the Crimson Hall, was opened two weeks later, on January 19.[5] The fourth wing was opened with content patch 3.3.2 on February 2, 2010.
