If any of you have read any of my gaming junk, then you solidly know that I’m a gaming addict. I love any type of computer games, even if they are well beyond my playing means – just makes me want them more. Well, I was recently asked to review a new hidden object game that just hit the market by a new PC gaming company, Big Finish Games. And I have to say that I was completely blown away with everything about this game. Here is my take on 3 Cards to Dead Time and what any avid gamer can expect from this superb hidden object game:
First of all, this is not one of those shallow hidden object games that has very little or no story line. In fact, the whole game actually revolves around a major story line – which is as it should be. There are some game developers of casual hidden object games out there that don’t put a lot of time into the story line, instead, they simply add it in as an after thought. But not Big Finish Games – oh no. They create a completely unique story line that will simply blow you away.
You play in 3 Cards to Dead Time as Jess, who has just recovered from an attempt on her life after finding out she has an amazing gift – the ability to see memories and images simply by touching an object. Throughout the game, you solve mysteries, find different clues, and try to solve the mystery involving your parents, memories of people you have never seen and much more.
I actually love the fact that this hidden object game is challenging and that there is a story line to it that involves you listening to the voice work. Here is another area where the game shines that other hidden object games normally don’t: the sounds and voice acting work. I have to admit that I was completely impressed with Big Finish Games voice acting work and music throughout 3 Cards to Dead Time. The character’s voices fit them well and add to the overall feel of the game itself.
The graphics in 3 Cards to Dead Time offer yet another treat for any lover of hidden object games. The graphics are so well put together, so well drawn and designed, that it’s really hard to find a flaw one in the visual presentation here. And, the puzzles that you’ll come up against are actually puzzles – not just obvious places where different object have been placed in a scene. I love this. It deepens the mystery surrounding the game and adds to the challenge of the hidden object games that are involved in solving the game.
Overall, for anyone that loves hidden object games, 3 Cards to Dead Time is one that I would completely recommend. Now, it is not really a kid’s game though, as even on easy mode, the puzzles and hidden object games are hard at times (even I found myself using too many hints!). But, it is well worth the money and Big Finish Games has really outdone themselves here with this title. You’ll find free game demos on the Big Finish Games website so you can check out their gaming craftsmanship for yourself.
